Gensburg Prairie

Land area: 100 acres

Managed since 1972 by Northeastern Illinois University and awarded Federal Natural Landmark status in 1988, this is the crown jewel of the Indian Boundary Prairies. Besides supporting an exceptionally large variety of butterfly and other invertebrate species, this large site offers visitors an opportunity to see a number of State endangered and threatened prairie forbs as well.
