THE FRIENDS OF THE INDIAN BOUNDARY PRAIRIES 2018 CALENDAR

Business meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. at The Golden Age Chateau, the entrance to which is under the canopy on the west side of The Markham Community Center at 156th and Homan Ave. in Markham IL. The location and dates of other activities, programs, or other special events are listed below.

FEBRUARY:
-The Great Backyard Bird Count, Feb. 16-19, 2018
Participants are asked to count birds during the four day event and report their sightings online at birdcount.org
Anyone can participate from your backyard or anywhere in the world. Visit the website above for more information or go to
www.audubon.org.

MARCH:
-Business meeting, Thurs. March 8th, 6:30 p.m. address above.

APRIL:
-Earth Day Celebration, Saturday April 28th,
10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at
Dropseed Prairie and the Prairie Center, 156th and Homan Ave. in Markham.
Come out and help the prairie by doing general clean up and litter removal. Pick up some information, join in an activity, purchase a new IBP t-shirt, and have some free refreshments. Bring a friend.
This event will take place rain or shine so dress for the weather.

MAY:
-Midlothian Clean Up Day, Saturday, May 19th
Meet at the Public Works garage behind the Midlothian Village Hall 14701 Waverly Ave. at 9:00 a.m.
Paintbrush and Sundrop Prairies are bordered by the Village of Midlothian. Each year the village generously allows us use of its large dumpster. In turn we take some clean up assignment designated by Midlothian.
On this day we will haul out trash that has been dumped on the prairies and remove large items with the help of the Village of Midlothian. Mark your calendars, we can use everyone. Be sure to dress for the weather, this event takes place rain or shine.

JULY:
-Business meeting, Thurs. July 12th, 6:30 p.m. address above.

AUGUST:
-Annual Picnic Saturday, Aug. 4th.
10:00 a.m. for set up, food and fun 11:00 to 2:00
Dropseed Prairie and the Prairie Center, 156th and Homan Ave.
We will furnish hot dogs, chips, water, and lemonade.
Bring an appetizer, side salad, or dessert to share, a lawn chair and other beverages of your choice. Join us for a look at Dropseed and some friendship, food, and conversation.

City of Markham Back-to-School Event. More information to come.

SEPTEMBER:
-National Public Lands Day for The Indian Boundary Prairies
Sat. Sept. 29th, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Dropseed Prairie and the Prairie Center.

OCTOBER:
-A special presentation at the Markham Public Library, Thursday, October 18th.
More information to be announced closer to the date.

NOVEMBER:
-Business meeting, Thurs. Nov. 8th, 6:30 p.m. address above.
We will plan our holiday party and recap National Public Lands Day.

DECEMBER:
-Holiday Party, Thurs. Dec. 13th, 6:30 p.m. at The Golden Age Chateau, address above.
Join The Friends of the Indian Boundary Prairies for refreshments, music, slides, and a look back at the year on the prairies.
Please RSVP by using contactus@ibprairies.org so we may have a count for ordering pizza.
